MIND BODY SPIRIT

So I might take a little flack for this post as it’s an exercise video and this is form is habitually about art. Anyone who has been following my work as of late will realize that the more I studied creativity the more I realized that it was a lot more than about just making art. You see unless your interested in LIVING FAST AND LEAVING A GOOD LOOKING CORPSE you come to the understanding at some point you have to start taking care of yourself and your OBLIGATIONS. REALLY there have been ENOUGH “TRAGIC ARTISTS” through out history and BESIDES that some of us tried REAL HARD and THANKFULLY it just didn’t work out. So what are you suppose to do be a tortured soul the rest of your life? I don’t think so. So at some point regardless of whether you choose to keep creating or not you got to get on living.

Richard Dimitri my MENTOR and FOUNDER of SENSHIDO

For those of you who KNOW me you know I started studying Senshido in 2001. At the time I took interest to learn self defense and because in truth I use to LOVE the way we BEAT THE HELL out of EACH OTHER. It was just another form of self destruction this one empowered me though cause I learned how to fight and got to beat up others. I even got to get back those who had victimized me in the past taking my skills out in the street and provoking guys who I thought where looking to “start trouble” I won’t get into details but I can tell you there was more than one summer night on the streets of Montreal where it was proven numbers meant nothing and just cause you had a weapon it didn’t mean someone was intimidated.Rarely did these incidences lead to violence the rush of of the confrontation and having another step off cause they might get hurt was more than enough to get me off though. The true beauty in self defense comes from confidence and peace of mind and as that developed the MAN I was CHANGED TOO.
The MORE I STUDIED the more I delved into the world of FITNESS and the MORE I LEARNED the more I WANTED TO LEARN. Which in turn lead for a love not only for the FIGHTING ARTS but ALSO FITNESS IN GENERAL. ADD THAT TO MY RECENT INTEREST IN SELF DEVELOPMENT (and SENSHIDO was self development before I knew what self development was) and that a KNOCK OUT COMBINATION!!!!! So here is a video showing you where this all lead.
This is one set of one of my 20 mins workouts. This particular workout was created from a cardio routine in the book “Body for Life” by Bill Phillips as well as principles learned from Brian Tracy and Anthony Robbins about reprogramming the mind through AUTOSUGGESTION. For this particular work out I use a suggestion found in the book “The Power of Your Subconscious Mind” by Joseph Murphy. It used for HEALING, I like the way it TWEEKS my BRAIN THOUGH so I use it fer all sorts of things!!!! ” the suggestion goes ” I am PERFECT, WHOLE, STRONG,POWERFUL, LOVING HARMONIOUS AND HAPPY”. these words are quickly being embedded in my brain as I OFTEN here them echoing. The work out is an interval workout going from a level 5-10 over 20 mins. It’s great as it adjustable to every individuals fitness level. this vid was shot at level 9 of the second going back down to level six then back to level 9. For the bag work I am using Senshido principles such as “OVERKILL” TRAINING, open handed striking, closest weapon closest target and “jamming” which where taught to me by Richard Dimitri. I throw in high kicks for leg strength and flexibility.

One Response to “MIND BODY SPIRIT”

  1. I had never seen a combo of working out with the positive motivation affirmations. I usually just zone with what’s on the boob tube or music. No longer!! What a cool approach Richard. And are you legs registered as lethal weapons??? Sounds like a gun shot going off when you kick that bag! Nice!
